Marissa Ghavami was born in Louisville, Kentucky, on April 1, 1990, to Debbie and Majid Ghavami. She began acting at the age of six, performing in community theatre productions. Eight years later, she had performed in over 20 regional, community, and professional plays and musicals. She studied at Walden Theatre, a pre-college conservatory program from 1997-2005. She began taking vocal lessons at the age of eight, and at twelve, she won the opportunity to sing at the legendary Apollo Theatre in New York on the NBC show "It's Showtime at the Apollo" (1987). At fifteen, she moved to Los Angeles with her mother to pursue her career in film and television. She then made her prime time TV acting debut on "Without a Trace" (2002).
